Never put off till tomorrow what may be done day after tomorrow just as well.
Mark Twain
Let’s face it; you wouldn’t be procrastinating if you didn’t have a good reason for doing so.
Few months back, I had plan out few awesome things to do, places to visit, and post I would publish. I even drafted few things out and when it was time to finally do them, i didn’t! I just had reasons not to. To be honest, it wasn’t as though I hadn’t plan or set them as goals to follow. I did all that. It was just like the battle between David and Goliath. Unfortunately for me, I couldn’t conquer my giant.
Looking at it from another angle, I realized I sure did have good reasons why I had to let what I planned fall through. If you are in my shoes, I’ve got something to tell you, if your reasons to do those stuff you had plan aren’t as big as the reason why you shouldn’t; I bet, you won’t do it anymore. I’m still working on how to not be good at procrastination. I was just inspired by the wonderful post by Vincent.
After reading that post, I noticed that a “good” reason isn’t necessarily a plausible one. However, If you can’t seem to motivate yourself no matter what you do, grab a notebook and pen and take a few minutes to figure out WHY you don’t feel like doing what you should be doing. At least this to an extent, has been of immense help.
Start with a few prompts to get your thoughts flowing here are templates to try out:
• I feel bored because……………..
• I would rather be doing
___________ because…………….
• I wish I didn’t have to
____________ because……….
Try not to edit or stop yourself as you write; just like the NaNoWriMo challenge, let the thoughts flow freely. You never can tell you could even write a WHY book!
Based on what appears on the page, you should receive some good ideas about why you’re holding back, and therefore be able to work through any feelings of resistance. Break free.
Over to you, what and how do you fight off procrastination and writer’s block?

I didn’t know you liked it that much, that’s awesome:) To answer your question of how I fight off procrastination though is I just really try to not care if my writing is perfect. Once I write a post that is “good enough” I post it. Sometimes it feels hard to post something I don’t think is amazing, but eventually you get over it. It’s a lot easier to do something every day than it is to do it some days.

Hey! Vincent You know what, you’re just right. Most if not all, do face it but what matters is how we reacted to it. By the way, i like your last line about how easy something could be to be done every day than some day. It just explains it simply. Thanks for sharing an amazing idea. You’re the best. 😃
