7 Reasons why you think your excuse is worth it.

Standard

He that is good for making excuses is seldom good for anything else.
-Benjamin Franklin

It’s a well known fact that each and everyone of us have got dreams. I mean those big audacious and scary dreams that when you tell someone about it they’re like “what?”

But, here’s a flash card; While many people dream of becoming a better person than they were the previous year, only a few actually do it. I’m far from being the perfect one on this. I’ve had something i was really dead serious and had plan to achieve but after awhile, fell through. “Was it me or was I not following the right steps?” I asked.

Here’s what I noticed from comments on most business sites: while many dream of quitting their jobs to start their own business or something, only a few actually do!

I’ve just felt like asking myself “why” questions. Just why?
Why Is It that after years of work, some people still aren’t as successful as others? Is being successful luck or what?
Okay i came to conclusion using myself as an epitome that the reason why few ideas i had plan didn’t workout was Because i felt the Power of my excuses were becoming more Powerful than my dreams. In order to switch gears, I had to eliminate factors I made that promoted me to making excuses thereby limiting myself to achieving more.

Factors that prompts us in making excuses.

1. FEAR

“Our thinking and our behaviour are always in anticipation of a response. It is therefore fear-based.” -Deepak Chopra

Each and everyone of us, have got something we are scared of in one way or the other. The general fear everyone’s got is the fear of leaving our comfort zone. Fear stands for two things which are to face everything and run OR face everything and rise.

  1. Financial Status.

We give excuses based on our financial status. In the sense that when you dont have the money to get something that you wanted which would have helped you in your step to achieving a worth while goal, you simply just throw-in the towel and turn back. Here’s a fact, money obeys you. If you think that way, it works for you and not you working for it. I was a huge fan of giving excuses based on my financially status but since I got to know the fact that money obeys me, my mindset on it changed. When you think and believe you control money, instead of giving excuses why you could be limited by your financial status you think up a way to turn the tables around.

3. Having little or no contacts

I didn’t know who I could meet or talk to that could be of help. But having realized the power of the internet, my social capital(my friends) and social network, my ideology changed. Step out of your comfort zone, squeeze out few minutes and do a run down on people that could be of help. You may have over 1500 contacts on WhatsApp & Facebook put together. Hey! That’s one heck of an option to try out.

  1. Insufficient time

No time!!! This is the same excuses almost everyone makes but mind you, we are given equivalent time business tycoons and icons like Jack Welch, Bill Gates, Oprah, Brian Tracy and Tony Robbins has. Why not use yours productively yet you have the time to wake up at 5am and get dressed to spend precious hours in traffic doing nothing but ranting about one issue or the other.

  1. Fear of taking risk.

starting-up a business is too stresful and risky. Heres a question, Is eating not risky? Still you eat; Is sleeping not risky, people have died in their sleep. Still you sleep. You can’t achieve success by just talking but by taking action.

6. Age Disadvantage

Age is just a number. There’s a quote we all know which has become obsolete “a fool at fourth is a fool forever”, don’t say you’re too young or old to start or achieve those set pieces. Colonel Sanders started KFC at 65yrs. Get up and start.

  1. Waiting for the perfect time.

Waiting for l all the lights to turn green will make you lazy and as time goes, your ideas become hazy. By the way, lights turn green if and only if you press the button.

If these were the deciding factors, nobody would have ever succeeded.

Remember, for every reason why you think it’s not possible, there are thousands of people who have faced the same circumstances and doing the impossible.

Lots of people overcome these so-called limiting factors, so it can’t be the limiting factors that limit you.

It’s not the external conditions and circumstances that stop you – it’s YOU!

We stop ourselves! We think limiting thoughts and engage in self-defeating behaviour. It high time we stopped thinking this way and think positively.

Now get up, dust your feet, get out & take action.

Best of the week to you.
